New Trustees to Join Foundation for Physical Therapy Research Board in 2022

The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (FPTR) has named three new appointees to the organization’s Board of Trustees. The appointees — Drew Bossen, PT, MBA; Don Jackson, PT, MS; and Eva Norman, PT, DPT – will join FPTR starting January 2022, as Helene M. Fearon, PT, FAPTA; Randy Roesch, PT, DPT, MBA, FAPTA; Sheila Schindler-Ivens, PT, PhD; and Francis Welk, PT, DPT, MED; conclude their service.

“We are pleased to welcome our three newest members to the team,” said FPTR President, Paul Rockar, Jr., PT, DPT, MS, FAPTA. “Their experience and background will be a wonderful asset to our organization, and we look forward to working with them in the coming months ahead as FPTR continues to promote the importance of funding physical therapy research across all disciplines.”

Drew Bossen, PT, MBA, is the Co-Founder and executive vice president at Atlas Injury Prevention Solutions. Bossen is also a physical therapist with over 30 years of experience in injury prevention and development of treatment protocols for injured workers. Bossen has been an active member in several physical therapy organization, including the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Iowa Physical Therapy Association, and the Private Practice Section (PPS) of APTA. He has served as Board of Director of PPS, before becoming Vice President from 2002-2005. Bossen was also awarded PPS’ highest honor for the year 2013: the Robert G. Dicus Award.

Donald E.  Jackson, PT, MS, brings immense knowledge and experience as an executive management professional and is currently a trustee at Bighorn River Alliance. Jackson has been involved in physical therapy organizations on the state level – within the Illinois Physical Therapy Association, and nationally – serving as both secretary and treasurer of APTA. During his time as an APTA leader, Jackson played a key role in helping establish the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and in streamlining governance policies and organizational procedures.

Eva Norman, PT, DPT, is the president and founder of Live Your Life Physical Therapy, LLC, and has been a practicing physical therapist for over 20 years. She has been an active member of APTA since 2000. Dr. Norman currently serves as the PT PAC Ambassador, APTA Federal Affairs Liaison, and House Delegate for the state of Minnesota. Due to her expertise and professional experience within the physical therapy community, Norman has been invited over 50 times to give professional presentations and keynote addresses.

All three appointees will officially begin their terms on January 1, 2022. Both Bossen and Norman will serve for a term of three years, while Jackson will serve a two-year term.

FPTR also elected for Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA, HonLLD(Otago) to serve a one-year term as a non-voting Honorary Trustee beginning January 1, 2022. Additionally, Nancy Byl, PT, PhD, FAPTA, Dwayne Hofstatter, and Linda Van Dillen, PT, PhD, FAPTA, have been reelected to serve a second three-year term, also beginning January 1, 2022.

FPTR is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization governed by a Board of Trustees. Our sole purpose is to fund physical therapy research through grants, scholarships, and fellowships. Through these investments, researchers go on to yield exceptional research that helps us to learn more about the efficacy of physical therapy practices, pioneer breakthrough treatments, and build the evidence-base to define the value of physical therapy among payers, other health care professions, and patients.
