Past Foundation Funding Recipients Recognized by 2025 APTA Honors & Awards Program
Every year, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) recognizes and celebrates members for their work in advancing the physical therapy profession. APTA’s Honors and Awards Program celebrates outstanding achievements in the areas of overall accomplishment, education, practice and service, publications, research, and academic excellence.
This year, 12 Foundation funding recipients were among those to receive APTA Honors & Awards.
Chris Powers, PT, PhD, FAPTA, a current Foundation Trustee and past funding recipient, received the Mary McMillan Lecture Award and will deliver the 57th Mary McMillan Lecture at APTA CSM 2026 in Anaheim, California. This award recognizes his exemplary contributions to research, education, and advancing clinical practice.
The following recipients received APTA’s highest honor, the Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association. This honor is eligible to members who have shown unwavering efforts to advance the physical therapy profession for more than 15 years.

- Bernadette Gillick, PT, MSPT, PhD – 2014 Magistro Family Foundation Research Grant, and 2010 and 2009 doctoral studies scholarship
