THE FOUNDATION FOR PHYSICAL THERAPY ANNOUNCES 2021 SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENTS

The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (FPTR) has announced the recipients of the 2021 FPTR Service Awards. These awards go to select people and organizations that show a commitment to the physical therapy profession and to physical therapy research.

Last year we were able to recognize our 2020 awardees virtually. We look forward to doing the same this year and invite our supporters to a special live event on the evening Wednesday, June 23, 2021. RSVP to hear from these leaders in the field on how they got to where they are today and what the future holds for the profession. The event will be hosted by FPTR Trustee and PT Pintcast host Jimmy McKay, PT, DPT, and will also include recognition of this year’s VCU-Marquette Challenge awardees and honorees.

The 2021 Service Award recipients are:

  • Stanley V. Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA, HonLLD (Otago), will receive the 2021 Robert C. Bartlett Trustee Recognition Service Award for his personal service and commitment as a trustee.
  • The California Physical Therapy Association and the California Physical Therapy Fund (CAL-PT-FUND) will receive the 2021 Premier Partner in Research Award.
  • Michael J. Mueller, PT, PhD, FAPTA, will receive the 2021 Charles M. Magistro Distinguished Service Award – named after FPTR’s first president and chair.

About the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research

The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research was established in 1979 as a national, independent nonprofit organization to fund physical therapy research. Since its inception, FPTR has awarded more than $20 million in research grants, fellowships and scholarships. Many of today’s leading physical therapy researchers, clinicians, and academicians began their careers with this support. FPTR is a related organization of APTA, our lead partner in research.
