OHIO COUPLE PLEDGES 50K TOWARDS PELVIC HEALTH RESEARCH

Cathy Konkler, PT, and her husband, Jeff, pledged $50K to advance pelvic health PT research.

Physical therapist, Cathy Konkler, and her husband, CEO of Rehab Associates, Jeff, have committed to making the profession stronger through research. The Konklers pledged $50,000 to the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (FPTR) to support research in abdominal and pelvic health. Donations will be directed to FPTR’s Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy Fund.

While the Konklers have been decades-long FPTR donors, their concern for the profession prompted this recent substantial gift.

“We must continue to demonstrate the efficacy of what we do, and why we are the most knowledgeable and competent medical professionals in the treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction, including pelvic health,” said the Konklers. “Research and evidence are crucial to our continued success as a profession.”

Cathy has been a private practice owner for over 30 years. In that time, her primary focus was to help patients with pelvic health issues. Cathy hopes that this donation will increase the evidence-base in this particular practice area. She also hopes this gift will encourage aspiring physical therapists to pursue pelvic health physical therapy.

“Physical therapy has been very good to me and my family,” said Cathy. “We wanted to give back in a way that would promote the profession.”

The Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy Fund was established to provide research grants to study the advancement of pelvic health physical therapy through evidence-based practice that closely align with the research priorities of the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (formerly known as the Section on Women’s Health).
