FOUNDATION WELCOMES NEWEST TRUSTEE AND ELECTS 2016 OFFICERS

ALEXANDRIA, VA,  (January 8, 2016) – The Foundation for Physical Therapy is pleased to announce the appointment of Dwayne Hofstatter to the Board of Trustees.

Hofstatter is the Global Chief Sales & Marketing Officer at Hollywog, LLC of Chattanooga, TN, where they work to design, manufacture and globally distribute medical devices. Hofstatter has decades of experience working for the advancement of medical and orthopedic devices. He has served on the Foundation’s Awareness Committee for the past two years and led the development of an Industry Stakeholder group in 2014 which meets regularly with the Foundation to discuss issues of common interest.

“We are delighted that Dwayne has accepted the invitation to join the Board,” said Foundation Board of Trustees President Barbara Connolly, PT, DPT, EdD, FAPTA. “His perspective and expertise will be a tremendous asset as we work to advance physical therapy research.”

In addition to a new trustee joining the Foundation’s Board, officers elected to serve in 2016 include Barbara Connolly, PT, DPT, EdD, FAPTA, as President, Michael Mueller, PT, PhD, FAPTA, as Vice President, Charles Martin, Jr., CAE, CIA, as Treasurer, and Randy Roesch, PT, DPT, MBA, as Secretary.

The Foundation for Physical Therapy was established in 1979 as a national, independent nonprofit organization to fund physical therapy research to optimize health and movement. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $17 million in research grants, fellowships and scholarships. Many of today’s leading physical therapy researchers, clinicians, and academicians began their careers with this support. Foundation-funded researchers have gone on to secure more than $824 million in follow-on funding.
