
Katherine Colcord, PT, DPT, PhD
July 1, 2026 —The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research is pleased to announce Katherine Colcord, PT, DPT, PhD, of the University of California, Irvine, as the recipient of the 2026 Postdoctoral Fellowship. The $75,000 fellowship will support her project, Aging in Place in the Oldest Old: The Role of Neuropathology, Aging Phenotypes, and Health Services.
“Katherine’s selection for the 2026 Postdoctoral Fellowship reflects the strong potential of her research and its relevance to the future of physical therapy,” says Rebecca Craik PT, PhD, FAPTA, President of the Foundation. “We are proud to support her continued research journey and the contributions her work will make to the profession.”
Katherine received a Promotion of Doctoral Studies Scholarship in 2024 from the Foundation while pursuing her PhD. The 2026 Postdoctoral Fellowship was made possible through the Goergeny Fund, which was established thanks to a generous bequest – demonstrating the lasting impact of planned gifts.
