Foundation for Physical Therapy Research Awards 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowship 

October 2025 — The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research is pleased to announce Ashwini Sansare, PT, PhD as the recipient of the 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowship. The $75,000 fellowship supports early-career researchers in developing the skills necessary to conduct high-quality, independent research through training and mentorship. Originally established in 1998, the Foundation’s Postdoctoral Fellowship was reintroduced in 2025 after a brief hiatus.

Ashwini will complete her one-year postdoctoral fellowship at Texas A&M University. Her research and training will focus on the impact on balance control in older adults following somatosensory cortical and cerebellar non-invasive brain stimulation.

Ashwini received a Promotion of Doctoral Studies Scholarship in 2022 from the Foundation while pursuing her PhD. The 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowship was made possible through the Goergeny Fund, which was established thanks to a generous bequest – demonstrating the lasting impact of planned gifts.
