Coast to coast ride starts April 1, 2016 aims to raise funds and awareness
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia, January 04, 2016 – Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, FAPTA, FAAOMPT, has announced his latest endeavor to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation for Physical Therapy; he is organizing a bicycle trek to cross the country, from coast to coast, in 30 days.
“I am a firm believer in maintaining an active and productive lifestyle,” said Event Director Stanley Paris, “and this provides an opportunity to do just that while riding for a great cause.”
A member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Paris has planned to take on the Adventure Cycling Association’s established Southern Tier Route this upcoming spring and invites you to join. Funds raised during this event will go towards promoting the advancement of physical therapy research.
The “Ride for PT Research” will commence Friday, April 1, 2016. Riders will have the choice of riding a segment of the route such as across a state, for a day or weekend, or joining Paris for the entire ride as he bikes across America starting from San Diego and ending in St. Augustine, Florida – covering over 3,000 miles just with three days rest. Those who wish to show their support but are unable to ride, can sponsor a rider and donate in their honor. Registration will open on January 1, 2016.
“We have appreciated Stanley’s multiple efforts in the past to advocate on behalf of the Foundation,” said Foundation Board of Trustees President Barbara Connolly, PT, DPT, EdD, FAPTA. “There is a huge need to continue to raise awareness and publicize physical therapy research. We are truly excited to have him take on this challenge with the Foundation in mind.”
