At CSM 2016, Duane Fast, Vice President of Foundation Gold-level Partner, Tri W-G, pondered the impact that conference attendees and exhibitors could have on physical therapy research if each person made a small donation to the Foundation for Physical Therapy. He saw the potential of each person rallying together under the common goal to advance the profession through research.
Thus the Power of One was born.
“The goal is to raise a larger sum through small donations, to continue funding physical therapy research,” said Fast. “We all want to see our profession grow and the only way for that to happen is for all of us to unite under a common goal.” That goal, he believes, is improving physical therapy through evidence-based research.
And so, this year at CSM, the Foundation provided attendees with a platform to do just that.
Thanks to donors such as yourselves, Foundation-funded researchers have, over the years, helped introduce movement in babies with cerebral palsy, integrate dancing to alleviate ailments in patients with Parkinson’s, and develop video games to implement physical rehabilitation.
“However, the work is never done,” says Foundation President, Edelle (Edee) Field-Fote, PT, PhD, FAPTA. “Our donors have made it possible to fund significant life-changing research, but we still need additional support to help us continue to elevate the profession and work towards creating a world that thrives on mobility. This can only be possible with help from you.”
You can still show the Power of One by making a contribution today.
